The STEP-CAT Cohort Management Study

Why we are doing this study?

To determine the frequency of recurrent blood clots in the deep veins of the legs or in the lungs in patients diagnosed with blood clots in the setting of cancer who take a lower dose of enoxaparin (injectable blood thinner), after completing the initial treatment period with 3-6 months of a higher dose of any injectable blood thinner.

 

Who is eligible to participate in this study?

Patients with confirmed symptomatic PE and/or DVT who have been treated for 3 to 6 months and did not interrupt anticoagulation for longer than 2 weeks who are now being assessed by their physician for further anticoagulation. Drug dispensed at Day 1 of study enrollment and then at Month 6, for a total time 12 months of anticoagulation in the study.

 

What is the study treatment plan?

Low dose enoxaparin injection once daily

 

What is involved if I participate in the study

  • Screening Visit
  • Clinic appointment follow-up at 1 month
  • Telephone follow-up at 3 months
  • Telephone follow-up at 5 months
  • Clinic appointment follow-up at 6 months
